CISG 210 Multimedia Authoring*

This course will introduce students to the tools that are used in the creation of multimedia-rich learning presentations. Students will learn to use the authoring tools to create projects with a high level of interactivity and end-user tracking, combining a rich array of media with compelling interactivity—to enhance learning and deliver information. Emphasis will be placed on design, usability, interactivity, and authoring.

III. Catalog Course Description

This course will introduce students to the tools that are used in the creation of multimedia-rich learning presentations. Students will learn to use the authoring tools to create projects with a high level of interactivity and end-user tracking, combining a rich array of media with compelling interactivity—to enhance learning and deliver information. Emphasis will be placed on design, usability, interactivity, and authoring.

IV. Student Learning Outcomes

Upon completion of this course, a student will be able to:

  • Students will use Photoshop, Flash, and Dreamweaver CC2015. CC2015 is the professional standard for producing high-impact Web experiences and allows both designers and developers to easily create next-generation Web sites and applications.
  • The ultimate goal is to be able to create an interactive Web site.
  • Define authoring and identify authoring software.
  • Work with Flash’s tools, panels, and commands to create Flash movies.
  • Create interactive multimedia using an assortment of software.

V. Topical Outline (Course Content)

Outcome: Students will demonstrate their ability to draw and animate using Photoshop and Flash. Assessment: Students will complete projects that include original artwork and animation created in Flash. Outcome: Students will demonstrate their ability to create interactive multimedia. Assessment: Students will create a final project which will be a website for themselves
