Script Analysis is designed to provide students with various methods and tools for analyzing a play script. Content will be discussed from the point of view of potential directors, stage managers, actors, and designers. Script Analysis is designed to provide students with various methods and tools for analyzing a play script. Upon completion of this course, a student will be able to:
- Identify, define, and discuss components of dramatic plot structure.
- Develop tools for understanding and analyzing scripts.
- Recognize and utilize important analysis terms such as given circumstances, character, plot structure, language, and theme in their work.
- Evaluate the historical and cultural contexts of dramatic literature.
- Identify and apply various theories/modes of analysis.
- Defend interpretations of a script through discussion, presentation, and writing.
