This course addresses the principles, challenges, and best practices in Intellectual Engagement and Application of Content as defined by Idaho Teaching Standards 7 and 5. Designed for future educators, coursework and assignments are situated in an internship/cooperative education model that allows students to apply learning and analyze the outcomes.

Upon completion of this course, a student will be able to:
- Candidates will be able to demonstrate the Lesson Structure and Flow allow for and support intellectual engagement and productive struggle; students are given time to think, develop ideas, and reflect on their learning.
- Candidates will be able to demonstrate that Rich Learning Tasks are designed to engage students in deep intellectual work, with cognitive demand suitable for different students.
- Candidates will be able to demonstrate that Students Discourse invites higher-order thinking, reasoning skills, and the ability to engage thoughtfully and respectfully with others' thinking and ideas.
