III. Catalog Course Description

This course requires demonstration of leadership in curriculum design, evaluation, child/family interactions, and teamwork teaching labs or instructor permission for offsite cohort. This course requires Idaho Health and Welfare enhanced background check, pediatric first aid/CPR, TB, and immunization clearance. 

IV. Student Learning Outcomes

Upon completion of this course, a student will be able to:

  • Demonstrate understanding of social studies through lesson plans and environmental design.
  • Demonstrates understanding of principles of leadership through teaching days and projects with teaching team.
  • Demonstrates understanding of Universal Design for young children by preparing the environment and planning and implementing lesson plans and activities.
  • Demonstrate leadership in developing positive relationships with families, students, and staff.
  • Demonstrates knowledge of quality Early Childhood Education (ECE) programs by completing a High Scope Assessment for an Early Childhood Education (ECE) program.

Assessment Strategy Narrative

A variety of formative and summative assessments will be used to assess the student learning outcomes for this course. Additionally, at the end of the program, students will complete a National Occupational Competency Testing Institute (NOCTI) exam in the area of Early Childhood Education to meet program learning outcomes.
