This course includes observation, intentional curriculum design with using developmentally appropriate teaching strategies and evaluation. This course requires Idaho Health and Welfare enhanced background check, pediatric first aid/CPR, TB, and immunization clearance.

  • Explain the connection between observation and intentional curriculum design.
  • Explain developmentally appropriate lessons in Social/Emotional, Language, Literacy, Communication, and Mathematics.
  • Demonstrate teaching strategies for the following areas: Social/Emotional, Language, Literacy, Communication, and Mathematics.
  • Explain Project Based Learning and how it integrates with the developmentally appropriate (DAP) content curricula.

A variety of formative and summative assessments will be used to assess the student learning outcomes for this course. Additionally, at the end of the program, students will complete a National Occupational Competency Testing Institute (NOCTI) exam in the area of Early Childhood Education to meet program learning outcomes.
