III. Catalog Course Description

This course is a continuation of AQUA 101. It is a more in-depth study of other commonly cultured fish species. Students will study Aquaculture marketing and business practices. Leadership, communication, and human relations skills will be included.

Upon completion of this course, a student will be able to:

  • Compare the dietary needs of other Aquatic species to that of trout.
  • Discuss conditions that would make culturing different species ideal.
  • Discuss ornamental fish production in the United States.
  • Describe how to set up a beginner’s Aquarium.
  • Explain the role of light, nutrients and plants in an Aquarium.
  • Define marketing and describe a marketing plan.
  • Compare the consumption and trends in consumption for fish and shellfish in the United States.
  • Define an entrepreneur.
  • Formulate a resume.    
  • Create, save, and print spreadsheets using simple formulas and formatting commands.
