Cultural and Community Psychology Minor

The community and culture minor is designed to give students experience in psychology and related fields that will help them to make an impact on the wider world. Students will learn about a variety of meanings of community and culture and how these different perspectives lead to different forms of action.

Cultural and Community Psychology Minor

Required 15 credits minimum:

Outcomes

 

Upon successful completion of this minor, students will be able to:


1) Describe key concepts of psychology as they apply to understanding cultures and communities;
2) Critically engage in scientific inquiry and critical thinking for understanding diverse communities and cultures;
3) Practice ethical and social responsibility to evaluate psychological phenomena in a diverse world;
4) Examine how multiple disciplines contribute to the study of cultures and communities; and
5) Demonstrate collaboration and self-regulation capacities relevant to future work in community building and working in diverse cultures and communities.
