ART-355 Medieval Art History
This course will explore the art of the medieval
period from ca. 800 to 1400 CE in light of its
historical, religious, political, and social
contexts. Emphases will include the relationship
between the sacred and the secular, patronage,
and medieval conceptions of the natural world
through the examination of architecture, stained
glass, illuminated manuscripts, painting,
monumental sculpture, and other media.
