ENGL 327 Psychoanalysis, Race and Sexuality

Explores psychoanalytic theories of race and sexuality through application to literature, film and culture. Focuses on Sigmund Freud, Jacques Lacan, and contemporary race, feminist, queer, and transgender theories. May include Frantz Fanon, Toni Morrison, Slavoj Zizek, Alfred Hitchcock, Judith Butler, Edgar Allen Poe, Chris Marker, Ralph Ellison, David Siegel and Flannery O’Connor.
