ENGL 199 Approaches to Literature

An introduction to the English major, 199 provides a grounding in the skills and questions basic to the study of literature: how to trace an image, approach reading different kinds of work, how artists construct characters, plots and settings, what a poets are doing with meter and rhyme, and finally how to approach writing about different texts and genres. Required for all Literature and Writing majors.
