Write in Spanish applying established rules of spelling, and punctuation, with appropriate register.

Analyze and apply metalinguistic knowledge regarding Spanish as a heritage language and the role of heritage languages in culture and history.

Read and comprehend a variety of authentic texts in Spanish.

Use critical thinking skills to demonstrate an understanding of the issues of bilingualism and identity among heritage Spanish speakers in the US.

Identify, discuss, and apply knowledge about the linguistic and cultural diversity within the Spanish-speaking world.

If applicable, prepare to matriculate into upper division coursework in Spanish, linguistics, Spanish education, or related fields.
