SOC-330 Criminological Theory

This course provides students with an overview of approaches to understanding the sources, mechanics, and consequences of crime. Students will also examine socio-cultural responses to crime, mediated representations of crime, and crime's affective dimensions. Each of these course elements will be contextualized in contemporary theoretical and policy debates.

Prerequisite

Three credits from any SOC, ATH, PSY, or POE course must be completed prior to taking this course. Students will benefit from having a basic understanding of how criminal legal systems function.
