ENG-230 Creative Writing—Workshop in Songwriting

This creative writing workshop focuses on basic songwriting styles and techniques. Students will learn how to write lyrics and set those words to music. In the process, students will develop a strong sense of form, imagery, figurative language, characterization, melody, harmony, rhyme, and rhythm. Class time will entail workshopping songs and analyzing famous (and not so famous) songs to develop critical reading and listening skills.
