COM-311 Writing Feature Stories

This course offers an intense focus on the composition of long-form nonfiction writing for broad, public consumption. Organized around a theme like environment, travel, food, political, or social media writing, this class offers students an opportunity to explore writing in various forms like hard news reportage, trends, personal experience, and third-person feature with annotated citations. Throughout the course students will be asked to reflect on technique, sources, and methods of information collection; as well as the development of feature writing into book projects.
