HIS-383 Authoritarian Governments in Latin America

An examination of military and right-wing governments in twentieth-century Latin America. The course will investigate international and domestic concerns that contributed to the emergence of authoritarian governments, including the Cold War. Special attention will be given to these governments' confrontations with peasants, women, and labor groups.
