GEO-310 Earth's Dynamic Climate System

To address major societal questions surrounding climate change, a strong grounding in basic physical processes that govern Earth's climate system is required. We explore the flows of energy and cycling of materials among the atmosphere, oceans, cryosphere, lithosphere and biosphere. The course examines how and why the Earth's climate changes, the major driving forces and feedback systems, and how climate change in the past is used to understand recent and future climate change. Prerequisite: One course in Physics, Chemistry, Geology, or Environmental Science
