The mission of the College of Technology is to provide an experiential learning environment that fosters collaboration, engagement, innovation, and personal growth. Our programs blend real-world experiences with practical applications preparing students for premier career opportunities and advancement within the information technology field.
Overview
In today’s ever-evolving technology professions, a solid foundation of formal training is essential to stay ahead of industry advancements. Wilmington University’s College of Technology programs cover a wide range of technology fields including computer science, information technology, cybersecurity, and digital media. Curriculum is carefully designed to align with industry demands.
The U.S. Department of Labor statistics reports a demand for Information Technology (IT) professionals across all industry sectors, with an emphasis on cybersecurity. Career paths in the IT fields include project leader/manager, software developer, systems analyst, database specialist, e-commerce analyst, network specialist, cybersecurity specialist, information security analyst, and information assurance and digital forensics specialist, among others. The College of Technology’s Center for Cybersecurity Education offers associate, bachelor’s, and master’s programs in Cybersecurity. Additionally, the Cybersecurity B.S. program has been designated as a National Center of Academic Excellence in Cyber Defense Education through academic year 2028 by the National Security Agency.
The undergraduate Computer Science program provides a comprehensive foundation in systems development, programming, and artificial intelligence, preparing graduates for cutting-edge roles in tech development.
Students in the Information Systems Management program are equipped to lead IT initiatives, with skills needed to analyze business processes and craft strategic technology solutions.
Digital Media programs encompass a broad spectrum of careers, including game design and development, graphic design, animation, film production, and web design. Through hands-on practical assignments and access to the latest technologies, students gain the functional knowledge and creative expertise required to succeed in these dynamic fields.
Communication majors are prepared for diverse roles in public relations, social media, technical communication, and electronic publishing. Our program emphasizes effective communication strategies, branding and storytelling, guided by industry professionals.
Dual Credit Advantage
In addition to our degree programs, the College of Technology offers a variety of undergraduate and graduate certificates, many of which can be integrated into the broader academic curriculum. The Dual Credit Advantage program provides additional options to earn a related graduate certificate while completing their bachelor’s degree - or accelerate their academic journey with master’s-level courses. Students collaborate with academic advisors to plan the best option for their individual career aspirations.
Honor Societies
Epsilon Pi Tau Honor Society, Delta Lambda Chapter
Epsilon Pi Tau is the leading international honor society for technology. Epsilon Pi Tau, established in 1929, recognizes academic excellence of students in fields devoted to the study of technology and the preparation of practitioners for the technology professions. The Delta Lambda Chapter of Wilmington University was created in 2012 and new members are invited to an annual initiation ceremony.
The ceremony recognizes the academic achievement of College of Technology students who are in their junior or senior year, or have completed their certificate. Membership is by invitation only, for students who are in good standing, meet the minimum credit requirements, and have a minimum GPA of 3.85 for graduate programs and 3.5 for undergraduate programs.

Lambda Pi Eta Honor Society, Alpha Chi Sigma Chapter
Lambda Pi Eta was founded by the students of the Department of Communication at the University of Arkansas in 1985 and became the national honor society for outstanding students in communication in 1994. Today, more than 450 chapters can be found nationwide.
Undergraduate Communication students in their junior or senior year are considered for this society based on high academic success and achievement in their studies for a bachelor's degree in communication. To be eligible for admission, undergraduate students must meet the following criteria:
1. Complete 60 semester credit-hours
2. Have a minimum overall cumulative GPA of 3.5
3. Currently be enrolled as a student in good standing, as determined by the institution's policies
Master of Digital Communication students also are considered. To be eligible for admission, graduate students must meet the following criteria:
1. Complete 12 hours of graduate credit-hours in Communication
2. Have a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.5
3. Currently be enrolled as a student in good standing, as determined by the institution’s policies.
Students meeting the national requirements, as outlined, may apply for Lambda Pi Eta membership.
Membership is by invitation only and new members are inducted during an annual ceremony. New members are presented with a certificate, and a red and white honor cord to be worn with academic attire at their commencement ceremony.

Whether you come to Wilmington University with a vast amount of professional experience and are awarded Credit for Prior Learning (CPL), or you participate in a Work-Integrated Learning (WIL) opportunity (Internships or Cooperative Education) embedded in your curriculum for credit, we provide a pathway to completing your degree.
