Admission
To be considered for admission to the Master of Healthcare Administration (MHA) program, applicants must satisfactorily submit and/or complete the following requirements:
- Submit a graduate application for admission accompanied by a non-refundable application fee.
- Submit the official transcript(s) from an accredited college, university, or other degree granting institution, within two terms of admission, verifying completion of a baccalaureate (bachelor’s) degree.
- Meet with a program Chair or advisor for a Program Planning Conference [PPC] to discuss program expectations and requirements. To schedule your Program Planning Conference with your Program Advisor complete an Online Request form. The official transcript(s) should be on file with Wilmington University prior to the PPC; however, students may present an unofficial transcript(s) to a program Chair or advisor for the PPC.
All required application and admission documents should be sent to the Wilmington University Graduate Admissions office or email gradadmissions@wilmu.edu.
Applicants whose native language is not English or who have graduated from an institution where English is not the language of instruction should contact International Admissions or go to the University's website for admission requirements.
Program Purpose
The MHA program is designed to equip students with the essential skills and knowledge required for a successful career in healthcare administration. The curriculum is structured around key competencies that align with institutional and industry standards, ensuring that graduates are well-prepared to meet the demands of the healthcare profession.
Program Competencies
In addition to Wilmington University’s graduation competencies, the MHA program includes the following specific competencies:
- Evaluate and apply ethically grounded, emotionally intelligent leadership practices to manage and lead healthcare organizations and interdisciplinary teams in complex and evolving environments.
- Critically analyze healthcare systems, financing structures, and public policy to assess their impact on organizational performance, access to care, quality outcomes, and health equity.
- Design, implement, and evaluate strategic and operational initiatives that enhance organizational efficiency, quality of care, patient safety, and long-term sustainability.
- Evaluate, synthesize, and apply healthcare data, health information systems, financial management principles, and performance metrics to support evidence-based, fiscally responsible managerial and strategic decision-making within healthcare organizations.
- Strategically communicate and collaborate with diverse stakeholders, including healthcare professionals, clinicians, governing bodies, patients, and community partners to influence decision-making and advance organizational and community health goals.
