ART 154A Being Social: Photography and Engagement

Explores historical and contemporary ways in which photography has been used to examine social issues and invites students to produce work that responds to issues that are important to them. Students learn about photograph's historical significance in raising social awareness, analyzing the aesthetic and methodological strategies of modern and contemporary photographers seeking to catalyze economic, political and cultural change through the production of images. Students are billed a materials fee. (Formerly Photography & Engagement.)

Requirements

Prerequisite(s): ART 20I and ART 156; and two courses from ART 15, ART 20G, ART 20H, ART 20J, ART 20K, ART 20L, ART 26. Enrollment is restricted to art majors.
