MBAH 575 Health Policy
Prerequisitie: MBAH 480 The Health System OR permission from the instructor. The production, selling, and buying of health care - and the understanding of the quality of the results - is not like the production, selling, and buying of dishwashers or iPads. There is a major public role in health care (no surprise) and that large role makes "health policy" something you need to understand, if you are to be an effective health care administrator. The purpose of this course is to enable you to do that, by providing readings and exercises on health policy that explore: (1) Critical ways of thinking about health policy; and (2) Basic methods of policy analysis. We will do this work through a combination of general readings on methods of policy analysis and evaluation; instructive, concrete problems and cases; examples from your own work experience; and analytic exercises on a special data set that has already been prepared and formatted for your use.
