GSM 536 Investments

Investments is an applied practitioner's class that will give you the skills to determine future goals for the risk and expected return of financial assets, choose appropriately to achieve these goals, and then monitor the actual performance of your assets relative to your expectations/benchmark and the overall market's returns. By the end of the class you will be able to select investments, create portfolios and evaluate their performance for either your professional or personal goals. Topics covered include the risk-return tradeoff, U.S. stock market alternatives, stock valuation, stock price behavior, stock options, mutual funds, bonds, and futures contracts. Simulation trading will be used.
