Financial Statement Analysis provides hands-on experience in the analysis of financial and non-financial information. Course modules include the financial reporting process, the analysis of investment decisions, the analysis of financing decisions, and the role of financial analysis in strategic analysis; specific topics include revenue recognition, the applications and limitations of EBITDA, quality of earnings analysis, fraud detection, mergers and acquisitions, cross-border investments, IPOs and venture capital, credit risk analysis, project finance, and financial forecasting. Students will use financial statement analysis as an integral part of the strategic decision-making process, while understanding how accounting regulations and managerial discretion influence presented financial statements. Relying heavily on case studies and real-time analysis of companies, we will weave together classroom lecture, in-class exercises, and critical thinking skills.
