4 sem. hrs. Introduces students to teaching English as a second language. Offers an overview of the history of second language teaching, methodologies, approaches, and techniques and their underlying theories and assumptions. Examines specific classroom techniques - reading and writing processes and instruction and assessment and testing - and their application to curriculum development. Requires fieldwork. Bourret.
