Academic Catalog 2024-2025
Effective Fall 2024
Greetings from Dr. Paul Beaudin, Provost
Welcome to Northern Essex Community College!
The Academic Catalog details the academic programs, courses, and policies created by our faculty, student affairs personnel, and administrators to guide your academic progress from admission through graduation. Additionally, it represents the collective work of literally thousands of people throughout our sixty-year history. It is refined each fall and spring to reflect modifications to both curriculum and policies. These modifications attempt to meet the changing conditions of the local workforce, the communities that we serve, the universities to which our graduates transfer, and the needs of our students.
Our college is a very special place where students engage with professors from some of the finest universities in the northeast and beyond. It is not unusual to be taught by men and women who hold advanced degrees from Columbia, Tufts, Harvard, Fordham, Syracuse, Northeastern, and the universities of Connecticut, Massachusetts, and New Hampshire. What makes us different from other colleges and universities is that instruction takes place in small classes and with incredible support. As a community of scholars and practitioners, your success is our success.
Our college is guided by best practices in higher education, the Commonwealth’s Department of Higher Education, our Board of Trustees, intentional strategic planning, and reverence for every student. We view our labor on your behalf as the greatest work of American society. We ensure that all that we do is accomplished through an equity lens where all learners are given that which is needed to transform their minds, hands, and hearts.
Thank you for your interest in Northern Essex. Please know of our sincere commitment to you.
