The associate in science degree in Nursing (ADN) builds upon a liberal arts and science foundation in preparing students to develop the knowledge and skills essential for safe, effective entry level nursing practice. This option is approved by the Massachusetts Board of Registration in Nursing; graduates are eligible to take the National Council Licensure Examination for Registered Nurses (NCLEX-RN). Nursing courses provide clinical experiences in health care agencies, in addition to classroom study and laboratory practice. A student must maintain a C or better in all required courses in order to move to the next level and graduate from the program.
Admission to the ADN Advanced Placement option is criterion based. A student may apply for readmission to this option one time, according to program policy. The ADN Option provides Advanced Placement for the LPN.
By allowing applicants to enter the second year of the Associate Degree in Nursing Program, applicants must hold current licensure as an LPN in Massachusetts with one year work experience. Candidates must meet admission requirements and and apply by the deadline. Students accepted for the Advanced Placement will complete a one credit Nursing Transition Course during the summer before entry into the option. Once this course is completed, the student will be given credit for all the first year nursing courses. Plan to see an advisor for more complete information about this graduation requirement.
A minimum of 69 credits is required for graduation.
