Exploratory Program for Undeclared Students
Courses and Requirements
The Exploratory Program for Undeclared Students is designed to serve students who are new to Northern Essex and have not accumulated any college-level credits or decided on a major. Students will be placed in this program only if they are undecided. Students will not be able to graduate from the program and must declare a major by the time they complete 29 college-level credits. Enrolled students are required to take the First Year Seminar (FYS101), participate in career interest exploration, attend presentations and workshops offered through the Center for Student Success and the academic centers, and meet regularly with an assigned advisor to discuss their progress. Students are encouraged to declare a major and transfer to the appropriate program of study, with the assistance of their advisor, by the time they have earned 15 college credits, or sooner if they have met the Exploratory Program outcomes.
