MGT 575 Hospitality Industry: Analytics and Business Intelligence
The effective use of analytics and business intelligence is a prerequisite for successful hospitality industry leaders. Whether they are analyzing the profitability of operations or the economic viability of "deals," these leaders must understand and apply data driven decision making. Therefore, this course addresses analytics and business intelligence from two broad perspectives. First, the effective implementation of analytics within a hospitality enterprise is explored and applied. Topics such as analytics for operations, sales, and overall performance are addressed. And second, analytics are examined within the context of larger, development deals. Potential deals must be carefully analyzed with respect to their economic attractiveness from the perspective of a variety of potential stakeholders including operators, owners, investors, and lenders. This course addresses the analytical techniques and business intelligence needed to systematically evaluate these development opportunities within the hospitality industry. Topics such as the planning of a development or investment, determining the economic feasibility of projects, and the valuation of hospitality related assets are all examined. (3)
