IND 3350 PRODUCTION METHODS II

An intermediate level lecture /studio course that builds upon the creative skills associated with ‘designing for sustainable fabrication’. Students will be introduced to concepts that pertain to sustainable strategies, sustainable product design, and design for the environment concepts. Course meant to prepare students to begin the design process with eco-friendly materials, manufacturing, and the environment in mind. Throughout the course, sustainable principles and how they relate to global, ecological, urban, built, material, and cultural parameters will be evaluated. Concepts like 3R’s, Design for Disassembly, Upcycling, Urban Mining, Life Cycle Assessment, and Circular Economy will be introduced and studied to provide a working knowledge for today’s designers to conceive commercially viable products.
