Admissions/Declaration Requirements:

Applicants who satisfy freshman or transfer requirements for admission to the University, along with a minimum GPA of 2.0, may declare their major as a Bachelor of Arts in Recreation Administration.

Graduation:

To graduate with a degree in Recreation Administration the student must have a 2.5 GPA in the major and a 2.0 or higher overall GPA and complete 120 semester hours.

Recreation Administration Admission Requirements:

  • Current GPA of 2.0

  • Meet with a Recreation faculty member to discuss student’s interest in the major and review current program evaluation (if available). A transfer student must provide a copy of unofficial transcript from every college and university attended.

  • Provide a copy of unofficial transcript from every college and university attended

  • Complete Declaration of Major form

  • Complete Admission Information Sheet

Graduation Requirements:

  • Maintain a C or better in all major required courses including the Capstone courses (except additional courses and field courses)

  • Maintain a B or better in all field courses and have a 2.5 GPA in the major required courses to register.

  • A grade of C or higher in ENG 1030 (College Composition) or equivalent

Program Description:

The B.A. in Recreation Administration provides students with the opportunity to pursue a career in sports and recreation settings, including community, sports, events, and hospitality. Students can choose from two options: Event and Sports Management or Community Recreation. Graduates of the program may work in various positions, such as Athletic Director, Recreation Director, Event Coordinator, Superintendent of Recreation and Parks, Sports Manager, and Facility Manager.

Individuals interested in community recreation may find positions in municipal, county, and federal government agencies, nonprofit youth serving organizations, community centers and senior centers. On the other hand, those interested in event and sports management may find positions in professional sports organizations, sport teams, resorts, golf courses, event management organizations, and sports and fitness facilities.
