GE 1000, GE 3000: University Requirement for Graduation for all undergraduate students that must be satisfied in one of two ways: Complete GE 1000 (all freshmen and transfers entering with 0-29 credits) OR GE 3000 (transfers entering with 30 credits or more).
ENG 1030 or equivalent: A minimum grade of B or better is required.
Prerequisite: Placement testing or exemption from placement testing. According to placement results, students may be required to take ENG 1025 Introduction to Composition as a prerequisite for ENG 1030

Writing in the Professions/Humanities
Major Capstone Course 3
ENG 4817: Required of all English Writing majors. It also fulfills the Writing Emphasis (WE) requirement of the University.
Petition required. Students must complete all major requirements and at least 5 major electives prior to enrollment in Senior Writing Seminar.
Free Electives 39-40
At least 50% must be 3000/4000 level. No English courses may be used as free electives by English majors except for ENG 1996, ENG 3291, ENG 3292 and ENG 3293.
ENG 1996 (Optional) Research course: Freshmen may partner with faculty to earn one credit as a free elective, which may be taken up to two times.
ENG 3291, ENG 3292 and ENG 3293 (Optional) Internship courses: Majors may enroll in internships, if available, for 1, 2 or 3 credits for a maximum of six credits, which may fulfill free elective requirements. Prerequisite are ENG 3001 or ENG 3029; 75 credits.
