Our Mission Statement:
The Office of Student Government provides quality services to enhance the student life on campus. We develop strong student leaders through a wide array of opportunities for personal and professional development. Through the two student government bodies at Kean University, Student Government Association and Graduate Student Government, the voices of the students are heard. Through student representation on various University committees, we build a community by working with students, faculty, and administration to enhance the quality of campus life. By providing diverse student led programming, we demonstrate our commitment to retaining students, enriching student life and creating meaningful out of the classroom learning experiences.
Our Vision Statement:
To provide and develop quality services to all Kean University campuses incorporating leadership opportunities, professional and personal development, and diversified programming.
What We Do:
The Office of Student Government develops student leaders through a wide array of opportunities for personal and professional development.
Comprised of both Student Government Association, the undergraduate governing body, and Graduate Student Government, these student government boards represent the students of Kean University through encouraging student feedback and acting as the voice for student needs. These Student Government Boards build a community by working with students, faculty, and administration to enhance the quality of campus life. In addition, the Office of Student Government houses Student Government Association which consists of the executive board, 4 classes, and 9 Senators for each class. These Student leaders work on various University Committees and address student concerns brought forward to them. The class senators represent the Freshman, Sophomore, Junior, and Senior classes, and provide additional funding opportunities to the 140+ Recognized Groups on campus. Through working with and developing these student leaders, we are able to provide quality services and programs that contribute to social, academic, cultural and professional growth of the student body. Student Government Association
Student Government Association of Kean University strives to enhance the intellectual, cultural, and personal growth of those it represents, by acting as the voice of the undergraduate student body. The organization is dedicated to maintaining an environment where the ideals of diversity and free expression can flourish through scholarly opinion, debate, and education. We represent the concerns and reservations of our members to the administration, its officers and staff seeking a favorable resolution of those matters as we strive to promote leadership and the development of student leaders.
Students are encouraged to voice all viewpoints through active feedback and participation in the governance of Kean University; establishing a lasting dialogue that represents each scholar, in turn, unifying the University community. The organization will work with the administration to ensure optimum student rights; providing all individuals with the opportunity to succeed, in the classroom and in their personal endeavors.
Graduate Student Government
Our mission is the service of our constituency, the Graduate students of Kean University. We will foster the development of a stimulating, interactive environment. Our goal is to enhance the academic, social and cultural experiences of our community, by encouraging the true meaning of diversity on our campuses.
Our representation of our members will employ the assets of Student Government, assisting our members to achieve the finest academic standards and promoting the principles of academic excellence. We will strive to maintain an atmosphere of unencumbered scholarly opinion, debate and learning, while presenting programs, both on and off the campus for your interest and edification at affordable prices.
We represent the concerns and reservations of our members to the administration, its officers and staff seeking a favorable resolution of those matters as we strive to promote leadership and the development of student leaders. We do this by recognizing that today’s student leaders are tomorrow’s world leaders. We invite you to join our continuing effort.
