DPT 6140 ELECTROTHERAPEUTIC MODALITIES IN PHYSICAL THERAPY

This course is designed to provide students with a theoretical knowledge base and the psychomotor skills required for the prescription, application, and appropriate use of commonly used electrotherapeutic modalities. Clinical reasoning and evidence-based practice will be fostered through traditional lectures, group discussions, hands-on laboratory activities, case studies and review of literature. Students will be expected to apply information from previous coursework in a relevant manner to critically analyze a variety of clinical scenarios. Upon completion of the course, students will be expected to demonstrate sound clinical decision making and competency in selecting, justifying and administering electrotherapeutic modalities. Clinical application of modalities into patient care will be emphasized within the clinical courses.
