PHYS2030 PHYSICS OF SOUND

The study of sound with applications to music and speech. Basic physical concepts, the nature and transmission of sound waves, standing waves and resonance, auditorium and room acoustics, the ear and hearing. Relation of physical phenomena to physiological responce, musical intervals, scales and tuning. Musical instruments, the human voice, electronic recording and reproduction. Not to be taken by science and health related majors. (3 hr. lec/3 hr. lab.) Prerequisite: PHY 2091 or PHY 2095. Blount
