Course Placement and Testing

Placement testing is not required for most incoming Kean University students. Multiple Measures has been introduced as the method for placing newly admitted undergraduate students in their appropriate courses. Course placements are determined by SAT/ACT test scores (if available), cumulative High School GPA, and other factors.

The School of General Studies contacts first-year students through email, inviting them to schedule an Academic Advising Appointment. With the assistance of a Faculty Advisor, students discuss recommended classes based on major and course placement. Registration for classes will not occur until each student has met with a Faculty Advisor.
