STME 2100 MATH/COMP METHODS II
This is a second semester course, complemented by laboratory course STME 2199. The course gives an introduction to numerical differentiation and numerical solutions to systems of ordinary differential equations, with emphasis on the physical interpretation of the integral. Typical problems in physics leading to ordinary differential equations, infinite series, power series, numeric solution of ordinary differential equations, integral calculus, solution and interpretation of results using a graphical solver such as VenSim, Continuation of MATLAB programming. This is a second semester laboratory course, complementing STME 2100. Laboratory experiments correspond directly with concepts learned simultaneously in the lecture portion of the course. Lab activities include numerical integrals in 1, 2 and 3 dimensions, numerical solutions to ordinary differential equations convergence of sequences and series.
