STME 1401 CHEMICAL SYSTEMS I
A thorough discussion of the fundamental principles of chemistry including atomic structure ionic and covalent bonding, chemical calculations, thermodynamics and gases, mathematical relationships and problem-solving are stressed. Integrated laboratory will include advanced versions of classical experiments and an introduction to MATLAB programming, data structures and algorithms for scientific modeling, introduction to differential calculus with emphasis on the physical interpretation of the derivative, formulation of simple problems taken from chemistry, biology, and physics.
