SW 5601 RESEARCH I METHODS

This course is an introduction to social work research. It focuses the scientific method of the research process: from the development of a formulating a research question; conducting a literature review; This course focuses on methodology: Qualitative and Quantitative in identifying and selecting a research design and research instruments in disseminating the results in a written research proposal. In utilizing scientific social work research in writing the research proposal, the students learn how social problems relate to the social work values, ethical and political issues, diversity, discrimination and oppression and strategies that advance the promotion of human rights and social and economic justice and apply them to social work policy, practice and future research.
