PSYD 7209 NEUROPSYCHOLOGICAL ASSESSMENT IN SCHOOL AND CLINICAL SETTINGS

This course is designed to introduce students to the foundations of neuropsychological assessment. An overview of the concept of cerebral localization in addition to a general introduction to the major brain structures and functions will be provided. The foremost realms of cognitive functioning and dysfunction will be presented and the student will be expected to develop a basic knowledge and understanding of brain-behavior relationships. The course will include an introduction to neuropsychological batteries in addition to exposure to specific, relevant neuropsychological tests. Application of neuropsychological theories and principles to the appropriate assessment, remedial programming, and school related issues and/or concerns will also be discussed.
