PAS 5510 CLINICAL PHARMACOLOGY TWO
This is the second course in a two semester series designed to provide students with an understanding of pharmacology and the therapeutics of the major drug classes. This course will follow the modules presented in Clinical Medicine 3 (MSPAS 5420) and will address the pharmacologic treatment of neurologic, renal, infectious disease, endocrine and hematologic/oncologic disorders. Emphasis is placed on the practical application and evaluation of drug actions on the functions of various organ systems of the human body.
The application of pharmacokinetics, pharmacodynamics, and pharmacognetics of the various classes of drugs within the context of providing safe and effective pharmacologic treatment of diseases will be reviewed. Proper adjustment of medication for pediatric, pregnant and geriatric patients will be discussed. Practical experience with case presentations and medication prescribing is provided.
