PAS 5440 CLINICAL MEDICINE FIVE

The fifth of a series of courses designed to provide the student with an approach to diseases encountered in the practice of medicine. Using the knowledge gained in the Clinical Medicine courses (PAS*5400, 5410, and 5420), students will apply the principles of clinical medicine to specific healthcare settings. The approach to the patient and their families from the perspective of emergency medicine, surgery, critical care, rehabilitation medicine and hospice care will be addressed. Review of case presentations and simulation laboratory opportunities are provided for the student to practice the knowledge and skills learned in the classroom.
Disease presentation, differential diagnosis, diagnostic studies and evidence-based treatment/management of conditions commonly encountered in these settings are reviewed.
