PSRT 4231 INDEPENDENT LIVING REHAB

Independent living goals, in addition vocational goals are worthy endeavors for psychiatric rehabilitation efforts. In fact, such goals often complement vocational goals. Independent living rehabilitation can begin in inpatient settings and lead to supported independent housing in the community. Effective psychiatric rehabilitation can take place in all of these settings supplemented by mutual self-help, consumer-run, peer support. This course will focus on the variety of models employed particularly the emerging models of supported housing, the common and divergent goals of all approaches, the efficacy of each approach and the role of consumer preference will be discussed. With permission up to 6 of the 14 credits of electives, may be graduate credit. Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey, Psychology/Psychiatric Rehabilitation course.
