CHEM 2583 ORGANIC CHEMISTRY LABORATORY AND RECITATION I
This is the first half of a two-semester sequence in experimental organic chemistry. Students will learn fundamental laboratory techniques, have hands-on experience with Infrared Spectroscopy, Nuclear Magnetic Spectroscopy, and Gas Chromatography for product characterization. After learning basic lab techniques students will conduct simple synthesis reactions utilizing the techniques from the semester. Proper laboratory notebook writing and formal lab result reporting will also be emphasized. (4 hour, 1 lab hour rec.) Required for all BA and BS Chemistry Majors and most Biology Majors. Co-requisite(s): Chem*2581 or permission of the instructor
