Tutoring Services provided by the Nancy Thompson Library Learning Commons (NTLC) on the second floor support Kean’s students socially, linguistically, and culturally so that they may reach their full potential. Services enable Kean students with varying background experiences and levels of academic preparation to gain mastery and achieve excellence in their subject matter across multiple disciplines. The primary focus is to provide tutoring across the curriculum, with an emphasis on those courses for which help is most often requested (e.g., math, science, and business courses) based upon the foundational General Education courses. Students at all skill levels are encouraged to use tutoring in order to maximize their academic performance and to grow professionally.

Tutoring is available in the NTLC by appointment and on a drop-in basis as well as through an online portal. Tutoring sessions are one to one and/or in groups or virtual as needed. Tutoring is offered in a wide range of undergraduate courses, with an emphasis on those areas in which students most often experience difficulty, from introductory through senior-level courses. Tutorial activities are adapted and related to course content and objectives, so as to serve as an extension and elaboration of classroom instruction. Tutoring works closely with programs such as Disability Services, the Spanish Speaking Program, and English as a Second Language to assist students with specialized needs.
