Certifications:
This program prepares majors for certification as Certified Park and Recreation Professional (CPRP), and/or Certified New Jersey Recreation Administrator or Supervisor.

Admissions/Declaration Requirements:
Applicants who satisfy freshman or transfer requirements for admission to the University, along with a minimum GPA of 2.0, may declare their major as a Bachelor of Arts in Recreation Administration. 

Program Offered:
This program offers a rolling admission process. Students can apply for declared status at any time.

Graduation:
To graduate with a degree in Recreation Administration the student must have a 2.5 GPA in the major and a 2.0 or higher overall GPA and complete 120 semester hours.

Recreation Administration Admission Requirements: 

  • Current GPA of 2.0
  • Meet with a Recreation faculty member to discuss student’s interest in the major and review current program evaluation (if available). A transfer student must provide a copy of unofficial transcript from every college and university attended.

  • Complete Declaration of Major form
  • Complete Admission Information Sheet
Graduation Requirements:
  • Maintain a GPA 2.5 GPA in the major and a 2.0 or higher overall GPA
  • All options require that students must have a 2.5 GPA in the major to be approved for field classes, senior seminar and Recreation Leadership.
  • Complete all Field work requirements with a grade of B or better
  • Maintain a C or better in other major requirements
  • A grade of B- or higher in ENG 1030 (College Composition) or equivalent
  • C or better in Science courses
  • Maintain a C or better in Additional Course Requirements.
Program Description:
The B.A. in Recreation Administration affords students the opportunity to pursue a career as a recreation professional in community, commercial, hospitality and sports settings. Students in this program may select one of two options: Commercial or Community Recreation. Graduates work with such job titles as Recreation Director, Program Coordinator, Supervisor, and Superintendent of Recreation and Parks and Sports or Hospitality Facility Manager. Community recreation positions may be found in municipal and county and federal government agencies, nonprofit youth serving organizations, senior centers and retirement communities. Commercial Recreation positions may be found in theme parks, resorts, golf courses, event management organizations and sports facilities.
