Program Description
The School of Nursing offers a Graduate Certificate in School Nursing which reflects contemporary School Nursing practice from the Whole School, Whole Community, and Whole Child perspective. Through the integration of the National Association of School Nurses (NASN) Framework for 21st Century School Nursing Practice, students are prepared for excellence and leadership in school nursing practice. The program contains two tracks: the Non-Instructional Endorsement and the Instructional Endorsement track, which prepare students to apply for certification with the New Jersey Department of Education.
Admission Requirements
In addition to the University’s admission requirements:
- Proof of valid NJ RN license
- Baccalaureate degree with a minimum GPA of 3.0
- Official transcripts from all institutions attended
- Presentation of evidence of having completed the following courses at an accredited four-year institution:
- Physical Assessment with practicum (2 credit minimum with a grade of B or better)
- Human Growth and Development of Lifespan Psychology (3 credit minimum)
- Community/Public Health Nursing with clinical component (3 credit minimum)
- Professional Resume/CV
- TOEFL or IELTS scores (for applicants whose native language is not English). Exceptions can be made for students who have completed at least 6 credits of college level English courses form a U.S. institution, or who have submitted satisfactory SAT or ACT exam scores.
