PSYD 7451 EVID-BASED PSY TREAT I:CHIL&A

IN THIS COURSE STUDENTS WILL BECOME EXPOSED TO AVAILABLE CHILD AND ADOLESCENT PSYCHOLOGICAL TREATMENTS, UNDERSTAND HOW TO CRITICALLY SELECT AND EVALUATE TREATMENTS, BEGIN TO UNDERSTAND AND PRACTICE HOW PSYCHOLOGICAL TREATMENTS FOR CHILDREN AND ADOLESCENTS ARE IMPLEMENTED, CONSIDER RELEVANT ISSUES PERTAINING TO DIVERSITY IN CLINICAL PRACTICE, AND GAIN AN APPRECIATION FOR RELEVANT ETHICAL ISSUES IN THE DELIVERY OF PSYCHOLOGICAL TREATMENTS WITH THIS POPULATION. WHILE THIS COURSE PLACES EMPHASIS ON EMPIRICALLY SUPPORTED THERAPIES, THE MAJORITY OF WHICH ARE BEHAVIORAL OR COGNITIVE-BEHAVIORAL IN NATURE, SEVERAL TREATMENTS WILL BE DISCUSSED THAT HAVE NOT BEEN VALIDATED AS EXTENSIVELY.
