FULL TITLE: PROFESSIONAL SEMINAR IN SCHOOL PSYCHOLOGY IIIb: PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT IN SCHOOL PSYCHOLOGY COURSE NO: PSYD 6101 SEMESTER HOURS: 1 PREREQ: PSYD 5000, PSYD 5001, PSYD 6000, PSYD 6001; PSYD 6100; Matriculation in Professional Diploma in School Psychology Program CO-REQ: PSYD 6091 Externship in School Psychology ENROLLMENT LIMIT: 20 COURSE TYPE: Specialist. Required for all Professional Diploma School Psychology students. This second course of a two course sequence focuses on research, evidence-based professional practices and the transition from externship training to professional school psychologist. Special attention will be paid to the school psychologist's role as consultant and trainer. Student/candidates will create and implement their own professional development workshop on a speacialized topic for teachers and other professionals in their school setting. Students/candidates will continue to work on the use of data-based observations and measurement and the development of a positive impact project to assess the specific effects they have on students they serve in school settings. Candidates will acquire additional knowledge and skills related to theapplication of laws and ethics with the clients they serve in school settings(students, families, teachers, other educational professionals). In addition, candidates will acquire knowledge and skills related to the operation of school systems and special education practices in real school settings. Required for all Professional Diploma School Psychology students.
