Course is a continuation of VETT 110L, which familiarizes students with various clinical techniques, emergency medicine, and veterinary nursing applications.
IV. Student Learning Outcomes
Upon completion of this course, a student will be able to:
- Understand principles of endoscopy and acupuncture.
- Demonstrate ability to maintain and care for veterinary diagnostic and therapeutic equipment.
- Understand principles of semen collection, vaginal exams and sheath cleaning.
- Understand principles and proper application of bandages, splints and casts.
- Understand principles of wound management.
- Develop fundamental necropsy assisting skills.
- Explain / demonstrate competency in various emergency medical skills.
- Understand techniques used in transtracheal aspiration, centesis and care of indwelling PEG or chest tubes.
- Understand principles of nutrition as it relates to healthy and diseased conditions.
