This Hands-on lab is designed to teach and establish competencies in wound healing, wound closure techniques, knot tying techniques, placement and removal of skin staples. There will be time for individualized practice and then testing for skills competency. The course is appropriate for CEU's for Certified Surgical Technologists though instructor permission is required.

- Discuss special wound closure techniques and their rational for use
- Demonstrate effective knot tying techniques
- Demonstrate selection and application of various wound dressings
- Demonstrate proper suturing techniques
- Demonstrate placement and removal of surgical skin clips/staples
- Demonstrate appropriate suture selection
- Demonstrate and discuss application of wound vacuum systems.
