III. Catalog Course Description
This course presents a systematic treatment of chemical principles and their application. Topics include nomenclature, periodicity, reactions, equations, stoichiometry, solutions, gases, introduction to the theories of the atom, equilibria, acids and bases, redox, and radioactivity.

Upon completion of this course, a student will be able to:
- Demonstrate understanding of course content by being prepared to take the General Chemistry portion of the American Chemical Society’s general, organic, and biochemistry exam.
- Demonstrate knowledge of foundational facts and processes of chemistry.
- Calculate and interpret measured values of chemical phenomena.
